A caregiver is someone who helps someone close to them on a daily basis. The person being cared for may be suffering, losing their independence, ill or disabled. Caregivers play an essential role, and providing support is often a demanding and ongoing commitment, which can take its toll on their health, social life and personal balance.
💡 It is estimated that in 2021 in France, there were around 9.3 million caregivers, a figure that shows the scale of this reality. Yet support and recognition for caregivers is still extremely limited. Some caregivers are not even aware of their status.
The first possible help is simply to talk about it to those around you, to your family and friends, but also in your professional environment. Recognition of caregivers is still low, but the association ‘Le Pouvoir d'Agir des Parents Aidants’ is doing all it can to change that. The association has created a White Paper to help all parent carers. This document can be consulted free of charge online, and you can also sign it to join the movement !
This white paper contains 10 proposals to help parent carers :
✔️ Create a Recognition of the Quality of caregiver (RQTA)
✔️ Involve the Occupational Health Department in identifying caregivers
✔️ Include support for caregivers in extra-financial reporting indicators
✔️ Allocate better-paid leave for caregivers
✔️ Provide access to solutions adapted to each situation through the provision of free information
✔️ Develop complementary social protection offers
✔️ Offer a ready-made scheme for companies at branch and collective agreement level
✔️ Create a single information portal
✔️ Introduce a career adviser
✔️ Facilitate consortia of players to structure the offer at local level

The role of caregiver is an energy-consuming and time-consuming one, which is carried out in addition to work. However, thanks to Baby Safe Solution, companies can help their employee-caregivers themselves !
